And The Count Down Is On

So just a few more days to go…..so that means my life is a little bit more crazy, a little bit more stressful and way more exciting…

I thought I would do just a quick update before I head out on Sunday….

I forgot to put this in my last Blog but the space we rent now has room to add one more cabin, that means  5 more kids, which is so exciting to me, I hate telling kids that we are full and have no more space.  Well we still have to turn some away at least it is five less no’s in every camp.

We also have all the staff we need and I’m having to turn staff away because we are FULL, FULL, FULL

And all the finances came in, PRAISE GOD, so thank you soooo much for all your support.  Every year I think I got this faith thing all under control in regards to the finances… but it’s not quiet under control yet as I still have little freak outs, maybe one day I won’t freak out.

Also a little bit of sadder news, well it might not be that sad but when I was planning camps for this holiday season I was looking at the school calendar for private schools, which happens to be different then those of public schools (99% of the kids that come to camp go to public schools).  So public schools go back on July 5th, that means that the last camp had to be cancelled.  Well not cancelled but just moved till November.  In November we have a long weekend so it will be moved there and we are going to try to leave Friday night so they do get and extra night and a full Saturday.  I was pretty bummed about this but I have been reminded several times that it happened for a reason and hopefully in November we will find out why.

And now just a quick update on my girls:
Wendy is loving her DTS and learning so much.  She leaves on July 7th for Brazil where she will do her outreach, and the BEST news is that now her DTS is paid in FULL.  So thank you again.

Karoll leaves June 28th for Mexico, she has been having some health problems and needs some tests done before she can get the okay to go, so please keep her in your prayers.

Well I think that’s it and that’s all.  Thank you so much for your prayers and support.  As of every camp I sent out a prayers list of campers and staff, if you want to be on this list let me know and I will add you, if you’re already on it I will send some names your way soon.

Keepin it real in Quito

Yo Yo Yo So I have arrived and I made it safe, other then my luggages coming the next day. I was delayed in Edmonton and Toronto so when I got to Colombia they rushed me and a few other passengers to the flight for Quito. I am staying with a family, in my house there is Mami, who is the grandma, Mampi, her daughter and Joanna the niece, she is about 17 years old. There is also another student from London named Bhavin and a Japenese girl just came yesterday...she is super cool. So if I am to be honest the first week was quiet hard. Language school was quiet overwhelming and I hadnt met anyone yet so I was feeling quiet lonely and missing all of you guys. I let the tears slip a couple times but that is just part if the experience. My teacher tells me that the first week is always the hardest and that in a month I will be speaking Spanish....that brings me some comfort. Fruit

*(names have been changes for privacy reasons)* Back into the swing of things again and I am super pumped for this year.   Remember the time that I was sharing how I felt that there was no visible fruit last year and how that was really discouraging to me, well a couple weeks ago God blessed me with being able to see some of His fruit from last year, some fruit after a year of tears and prayers.   As some of you also know that for birthdays I take the teen girls out for ice cream.   This is a good one on one time and just a time for them to get out and do something special.   First up every year is Maria.   Last year when I took her for ice cream, conversation was a little strained, a lot of her answers to my questions were just one word and lets be honest, there were a lot of awkward moments.   As this year rolled around first up again was my beloved Maria and we had an awesome time.   We laughed, we talked and she was really honest with my...

Boys Camp… Just a little late

When it’s been so long between blogs I always struggle with what to say, or what to share.   Sometimes it feels like so much has happened that I don’t even know where to start and sometime if feels like nothing has happened at all… I guess I will start with the boys camp that we had in November, which was forever ago I know, but I obviously procrastinated and haven’t shared how it went and when I was in Canada over Christmas a lot of you asked me about it. Well it was an adventure.   We only had about 12 boys, which  was a nice small group.   I was really tired and worn out by the time November rolled around, so it was perfect and a more relaxed camp, well for the most part….
