Here We Go Again

So here we go again… I can’t believe in a couple days it’s going to be May and that means camp season starts and that makes time even go faster… SO CRAZY.

But before we get into camp, one of my girls, Wendy (yes I am using her real name) is in Argentina doing a DTS (discipleship training school).  SO CRAZY.  Growing up in the prostitution neighbourhood, filled with gangs and drugs and darkness, all the way to Argentina.  How cool is that.  It was so fun taking her to the airport.  She was so nervous.  So was her mom and everyone else that came with her.  It was the first time in a airport for every single one of them.  Not just the first time on a plane, but the first time in an actual airport.  I explained step by step what she needed to do and what was going to happen.  She had a little lay over in Lima, which made me a little bit nervous, but she made it in one piece.  Other than being cold (it’s colder there then here in Bogota apparently) this is what she wrote me the other day “I am super happy, I have really enjoyed the classes and have learned so much.  I know that I have a lot to learn here and it’s so evident that God wanted me here.  The verse you gave me at camp (Hebrews 11:1-6), God is really taking to me about that verse and my faith and I am ready to accept it and learn”.  I may have cried a little when I got that message.  Feel so blessed to see and be apart of what God is doing in His beautiful daughter.

Well that brings us to camp.  The first one is May 21-22 and it is for girls 8-10, the permission forms are out, all the staff is in place and other than figuring out transportation (this has been a little bit of a headache) it is all coming together nicely and I am so excited that my friend Jenn Letts (a good friend and a fellow camp lover) will be here and get to be a part of camp.

Anyways this is going to be super short, but I will leave you with the camp schedule again (I think it changed a little) and then some prayer points.   

May 21-22 Girls 8-10
June 20-23 Boys 11-13
June 28-July 1 Girls 11-12
July 6-9 Boys 14-18
August 20-21 Boys 8-10
September 3-4 Mamitas (the mom’s)
October 11-14 Girls 13-18

Prayer Points
  1. For Wendy has she is in Argentina doing DTS (she is still missing about half of the cost of the school)
  2. For Karoll and Esperanza(her name has been changed) as we are finalizing details and all that jazz for their schools (Karoll plans to go to Mexico in July and Esperanza  to Chile in September. But Esperanza has really been struggling and has been a bit off and on about going.
  3. For the transportation situation to get shorted out, the company we hired last year raised their prices over $300… so looking into different options but we have been getting the run around
  4. For this camp in May… Today I just remembered/thought how it rains almost everyday in May, so please pray that it will not rain the 21 and the 22
  5. Also for land the the looking of land… I have kind of started and I am more or less just getting an idea of what’s out there and pricing and all that jazz.  (This is overwhelming and exciting for me all at the same time.)

Keepin it real in Quito

Yo Yo Yo So I have arrived and I made it safe, other then my luggages coming the next day. I was delayed in Edmonton and Toronto so when I got to Colombia they rushed me and a few other passengers to the flight for Quito. I am staying with a family, in my house there is Mami, who is the grandma, Mampi, her daughter and Joanna the niece, she is about 17 years old. There is also another student from London named Bhavin and a Japenese girl just came yesterday...she is super cool. So if I am to be honest the first week was quiet hard. Language school was quiet overwhelming and I hadnt met anyone yet so I was feeling quiet lonely and missing all of you guys. I let the tears slip a couple times but that is just part if the experience. My teacher tells me that the first week is always the hardest and that in a month I will be speaking Spanish....that brings me some comfort. Fruit

*(names have been changes for privacy reasons)* Back into the swing of things again and I am super pumped for this year.   Remember the time that I was sharing how I felt that there was no visible fruit last year and how that was really discouraging to me, well a couple weeks ago God blessed me with being able to see some of His fruit from last year, some fruit after a year of tears and prayers.   As some of you also know that for birthdays I take the teen girls out for ice cream.   This is a good one on one time and just a time for them to get out and do something special.   First up every year is Maria.   Last year when I took her for ice cream, conversation was a little strained, a lot of her answers to my questions were just one word and lets be honest, there were a lot of awkward moments.   As this year rolled around first up again was my beloved Maria and we had an awesome time.   We laughed, we talked and she was really honest with my...

Boys Camp… Just a little late

When it’s been so long between blogs I always struggle with what to say, or what to share.   Sometimes it feels like so much has happened that I don’t even know where to start and sometime if feels like nothing has happened at all… I guess I will start with the boys camp that we had in November, which was forever ago I know, but I obviously procrastinated and haven’t shared how it went and when I was in Canada over Christmas a lot of you asked me about it. Well it was an adventure.   We only had about 12 boys, which  was a nice small group.   I was really tired and worn out by the time November rolled around, so it was perfect and a more relaxed camp, well for the most part…. I went ahead with three other staff, well that was the plan anyways, but the car we were in kept over heating and we kept having to pull over and wait on the side of the road for it to cool down.   So we got there a few hours after everyone else arrived.   I was ...
